EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Paige Academy is a non-profit,
alternative educational institution, offering a comprehensive, culturally
affirming and developmentally based Arts, Sciences, Humanities and Technology
program for children ages Birth to 12 years.
Based on the seven
principles of Kwanza - an African American philosophy that promotes, unity, self
determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics,
purpose, creativity and faith - Paige Academy's educational philosophy and
campus culture provide a self affirming environment that fosters academic
excellence, individual worth and collective responsibility. Paige is committed
to providing arts based, child friendly, project centered education that
involves the whole family in an "urban village" community of cultural
reaffirmation and ethnic understanding.

Paige embraces the concept that
an ethnically abundant educational community enhances the quality of a child's
academic and intellectual experience. In keeping with this philosophy, Paige
seeks to create a stimulating tapestry of diversity in its community of
students, parents, staff and faculty. Paige employs a multi lingual,
international teaching and administrative staff that represents the many people
and cultures of the Diaspora.
Paige Academy is committed to maintaining an educational community that is inclusive of and responsive to families of varying economic levels and educational backgrounds. Paige seeks to celebrate the economic, educational and cultural richness of its "urban village" by considering parents, students, staff and faculty to be members of a supportive and respectful extended family.
